Computer Training

There are a variety of classes available to learn how to use your computer.   Each class is limited to six people.  During each class, participants will use a laptop for hands-on training.  Participants will receive a take-home manual that provides step-by-step instructions on what was covered during the session.

Computers for Beginners, $10.00
This session will cover how to work with files, folders, and programs on your computer, change your wallpaper and screensaver and basic troubleshooting. Training computers use the Windows 7 operating system.
Come 15 minutes early to practice using the mouse!

Internet Basics for Beginners, $10.00
Learn how to navigate the Internet with Internet Explorer 8.  Visit a web addresses and use a search engine to find information on the Web. Basics of online safety will also be covered. Hands on class for those with little or no Internet experience. 
Basic ability to type and use a mouse is required.

Savvy Searching Session, $10.00
Improve your Internet research skills using advanced search functions on different search engines.  Learn to search using Internet math, phrases, special syntax, and how to use the Invisible Web. 
Ability to type, use a mouse and knowledge of how to navigate the Internet is required.

Easy Gmail, $10.00
Register for a free Gmail account and learn how to send and receive e-mail. 
Ability to type, use a mouse and knowledge of how to navigate the Internet is required.

E-Mail & Attachments, $5.00
Learn more about sending and receiving e-mail and sending file and photo attachments.  Must have an active web based e-mail client to register (ie. Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo)
Ability to type, use a mouse and knowledge of how to navigate the Internet is required.

Microsoft Word Basics, $10.00
Learn how to use Microsoft Word 2007, a word processing program.  This class will cover the basics on how to edit your page, format text, create a list, and insert clipart. 
Ability to type and use a mouse is required.

Online Magazines, Newspapers, Encyclopedias & More, FREE

The Library provides online access to thousands of magazines, newspapers and reference books. Learn how to use these resources at the Library or from your home.
Ability to type, use a mouse and knowledge of how to navigate the Internet is required.

downloadLibrary, FREE

Learn to use www.downloadLibrary.ca to download videos, audio books and eBooks to your computer, MP3 player/iPod, or burn to CD.  Must have a valid PCIN library card in working order to participate. 
Ability to type, use a mouse and knowledge of how to navigate the Internet is required.

BiblioCommons, FREE

Learn to use BiblioCommons, the Library catalogue. Basics of searching, placing requests, renewing items and creating lists will be comvered. Must have a valid PCIN library card in working order to participate.
