Library Board

Current Board Members

The current Stratford Public Library Board is made up of the following members:

Geoff Williams, Chair
Ted Boniface, Past Chair

Jeff Orr, Vice Chair
Keith Culliton, City Council Representative
Dr. Peter Brooks
Dr. Kenneth Clarke
Charlene Gordon
Patricia Walker Mann
Dr. Tom McCaul
Sam Coghlan, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary (non-voting)

Meetings

Library Board of Trustee meetings are held at the Library in the evening monthly on the third Tuesday of the month.   Library Board Meetings are open to the Public. Meetings begin at 6:30pm and are held in the Library Auditorium.

Generally the Board meets between September and June, unless additional meetings are necessary.  As per Board policy, there are no permanent committees.  Ad hoc committees are formed as necessary

Procedures for Becoming a Board Member

The Stratford Public Library Board has nine members who serve a four-year term concurrent with Stratford City Council.  The Board is composed of:

  • 1 City Council Representative
  • 8 Citizens-at-large appointed by Council
The City Council representative is chosen by Council when it takes office after a municipal election.Stratford City Council advertises the Library Board openings for Citizens-at-large in the local newspaper iprior to each municipal election.  Any interested citizen is free to apply to Council by letter for a seat on the Board.If openings occur on the Library Board during its term of office, new appointees are selected in the manner described above. 

Time served on the Library Board is limited to two full consecutive terms, i.e. eight years, plus one partial term for board members appointed mid-term.
