By the age of ten Eric Zweig was already a budding sports fanatic who was filling his school news books with game reports instead of current events. As a freelance writer, Eric is the author or co-author of many non-fiction sports books for adults and children. In addition to his “behind the scenes” work with TSN and CBC, Eric has also been an on-air guest on dozens of television and radio programs. Eric is a member of the Society for International Hockey Research and the Society for American Baseball Research. [source]

Probus Travelogue: How Kenya Forever

Presented by Dr. Cate Dewey, a veterinarian, working as a Professor and Chair of the Department of Population Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph.

My senses were buzzing with the new sounds, smells, and sights of the villages in rural Western Kenya. My emotions were on a roller coaster; the people were living in absolute poverty and yet they generously opened their homes to orphaned children - showing me despair and love. As a complete stranger, I was welcomed to their homes with joy. The culture shock hit me when I returned home. How could we, as Canadians, have so much when they struggled to feed and educate the children in their care?

I will share the story of the Children of Bukati Foundation and show how it is bringing hope to a community and is transforming the lives of Canadians along the way.
